A teenage American girl living in the Orient with her businessman father is kidnapped by Red agents as barter for a Communist scientist who has defected to the West.

Hello!
Well another episode I have little memory of! I liked the beginning - one was definitely not in Tokyo!
Then we were treated to the Ginza by daylight! Again like Tatia, I noticed a few familiar props - ie the little `grotto` with its trademark oriental stone lantern with some greenery in this episode beside the front door (that actor George Takei opened) - appeared in Always Say Goodbye and Three Hours on a Sunday Night.

I have to say while I enjoyed the story - ie the abduction of the defector, then the overwhelming gift-giving to actor Roger C Carmel (Merrit- remember Affair in T`Sien Cha?) for some reason this episode left me cold. I can`t think why. Too many characters? One never had a chance to `bond` with any of them. The young girl obviously was fond of our two heroes or the kiss goodnight would have been out of place. The `defector` was pleasant enough but I wanted more reason from him. This episode never had the depth and pathos of Tatia, or Cup of Kindness, nor the personal feelings of No Exchange ,but it had more action. I also thought the acting was a tad stilted - swas it produced earlier?

Also very interesting that ambigious remark about the disposal of the girl agent- did Kelly kill her? Did he knock her out? Very elegant handling of a rather distasteful moment. Speaking of elegant- I very much enjoyed Kelly`s "Chuang-Tzu` like gestures holding the teacup - and his kicking of Merrit - that kick spoke volumes . . .

Did anyone notice in the dockside scene that Kelly`s shoes seemed different? First it seemed his shoes were brown, THEN we saw he was wearing white sneakers.
I DID enjoy very much the Tag scene - very funny with Kelly in his silly overwarm sweater saying You are no longer the Ambassador to Kukamunga!" And Scotty enjoying a group of ladies was definitely a departure from the norm.
