Back in their hotel suite, Scotty is shouting, “boy, you are really simple!  Dumb!  You're being tagged, and you don't even  know it." Kelly argues back, “I gave her these sweet clear chances to dump me. She could have done it in a second.  And she picked neither one of them. What do you think of that?”

"Maybe she's pitching  you for a double agent,” Scotty suggests angrily. “Wonderful! I'll pitch her right back. We could be one happy family if you would just learn to shut up,” Kelly retorts. Scotty points out the dangers of Kelly going to Tatia's hotel room, and after Kelly's sarcastic reply, Scotty goes to the phone and tells reception that they'll be playing sound effects records, and to take no notice.

Scotty then puts his back against the hall door, barring it.  “You're kidding,” Kelly suggests.  “Don't be smart with me,” Scotty replies. “You're not going anywhere. I got two choices. I can let you go, and take the rap for being irresponsible, or I can make you stay here.”

Disbelief is met with determination. “Come on now, get out of the door,” Kelly cajoles in a reasonable manner, but when he attempts to go out, Scotty throws him.

“I said no, didn't I,” says Scotty hovering over the fallen Kelly whose 's face first displays shock, then anger,

Kelly rises, combs his hair and straightens himself once again to go to Tatia.  “I don't care how much you mess me up, I'm going through that door. Because I've got a date with a beautiful girl,” he says. When he drops his comb, Scotty goes to pick it up, and Kelly throws him across the floor.

Kelly then backs out the door into the hall, but as soon as he turns, Scotty makes a flying leap after him, and catches Kelly by the ankles. Just as he's about to pull him back into the suite, the elevator opens.  Scotty tells the startled inhabitants, “hi, my friend's back is itching.”  Kelly adds from the floor, “it's the only way I seem to get any relief.

Scotty drags Kelly back into the suite with a tight lock, then hears him moan something about his shoulder.  His compassion awakened, he loosens up, and Kelly uses the ploy to throw Scotty and get on top of him.  “Will you behave yourself?” he asks the helpless Scotty.  Sensing acquiescence, Kelly's own compassion leads him to help Scotty up, But Scotty takes advantage and immediately gives Kelly a kick, and quickly has him in a stranglehold.  “Say mache,” Scotty demands, believing that he now has the upper hand.  Kelly somersaults himself, picks Scotty up, whirls him around, and hurls him into the decorative room screen.

Kelly, still ready to fight, snarls, “come on now, you're breaking into my cocktail hour.” Scotty crawls out from the remnants of the screen, and groans bitterly, “go on now, go get yourself killed.” Kelly goes to the door, but there is now hesitation in his countenance.

Drained by the fight with his friend, and almost sobbing, Kelly pauses at the door and says, “will you lay off of me if I can figure a foolproof way to check her out?” Scotty retorts, “what foolproof way? If she's an agent, she's already way ahead of you.” Going to the phone, Kelly says, “it will work,” and phones the American consulate.
